Shaking the deck – it’s a common theme in our writing these days. Tired of the traditional business-as-usual mentality, we believe it’s time to break up the boys clubs and start redefining the way business is done. Instead of the same old story, let’s start building brands that matter, ones worth backing. In today’s blog, we are going to share a story about Econo Decks in Calgary and elaborate on how we plan on playing a part in the resurgence of brands.

The disintegration of everyday brands over the last two decades has been nothing short of shocking. Rather than focusing on creating good, wholesome products and delivering top-tier services to people, many of today’s ‘top brands’ have focused on short-term tactics to increase market share, drive top-line revenues and line the pockets of investors. The simple fact is that, the market is saturated by brands that have lost their relevance, purpose and soul – it’s time for the resurgence of brands.

The good news is that a whole new market is emerging, a world of opportunity awaits. Consumers are waking up, people are educating themselves, and the market wants to see heads roll in every industry across the board. If you’re a company operating under old-world principles (profit supersedes everything else), the moment of truth is coming and you could be out of business in short order. If you are a company transitioning to the new-era business practices (people first, profit follows), this is a golden age of opportunity.

It’s time to shake the deck across the board. Day by day, brand by brand, industry by industry, the new economy spawns. The time for resurgence is now, let the build-brands-that-matter (BBTM) movement begin.

Here at Lumos, we recently collaborated with Surge Web Apps to brand and develop a website for Econo Decks in Calgary. What better place to start shaking the deck than with a deck builder in Calgary?

With a young team and a commitment to get the job done right, Econo provided the perfect opportunity to show what the image for brands in today’s era should look like.

With Lumos on the logo design and content development, and Surge designing and developing the site, we worked hard to put together a site that reflected what Econo was all about. Launched last week, you can now see for yourself what re(surge)ence looks like (www.econodecks.ca).

What is Lumos For Business doing to kickstart this resurgence?

We are doing our part to catalyze the creative economy by focusing our energy on projects that matter and the people that can make things happen. Our specific brand of business is Gen Y business, which is driven by collaboration and crowdfunding. On this project, we put the collaboration piece into motion. Working from Toronto, we connected across Calgary and Vancouver to bring the site to life.

Overall, it’s time to build companies that matter and make business fun again. The lights are on and the new era of business is dawning. Get involved.

And tell us what you think of the Econo site, don’t be shy!
